Ancestors--- anyone who is regarded as a precursor or forerunner of a later person.
1 Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, (Hebrews 12:1, New King James Version)

Within the past thirty day two of my most respected elders and mentors have been unexpectedly called home to be with our Heavenly Father. Both of these individual went home on the 27 th of the month…Both of these individual in my opinion have graduated along with my father, from the ranks of Respected Elder to Ancestor. In our cultural tradition the conscious ones are aware of the value of the ancestors and their contribution to our present life as we know it. The ancestors especially the most recently promoted ancestors seem to gain a stronger voice in our memories as we reverently search our hearts and minds for the last words that they said to us. As we hold the image of our ancestors in our hearts and minds our memory of their words, works and actions speak to us in deeper and more impacting ways.

With the recent Homegoing of my Father the Hon. Yahya B.A. Muhammad, and these two mentors Dr. Robert Bennett and Pastor Cedric Hinson, I am made much more aware of my own mortality and the fleeting moments of time and opportunity that are lost when we do not bask in the light of their wisdom and frequently take advantage of an audience with them while they are still in the same earthly realm as you and I.

In some instances I took advantage of their wisdom and presence on earth by making the phone call answering the gentle tug in my heart that prompted me to call. But at the same time I am painfully aware that there were long stints between the those glorious dialogs that I did not take advantage of their presence. I guess I took it for granted that I would always have access to these faithful souls. And I may still have access to them but along with many others i have forgotten how to speak to the living and the dead without spirit mediums, cell phone, microphones and the internet. Do you remember?

Some of our elders and none of our ancestors even use these high-tech substitutes for a handwritten letters or cards and or a face-to-face conversation. WE need to seize every opportunity to talk with our Elders before they make their transition to the ranks of Ancestors. (We actually need to value all people even youth for we know not the hour they may be called home too.)

The sudden death of my friends and mentors has me valuing not just days but moments with loved ones, It has me wondering why them? Why Now? And Why not Me? I sense that I still needed them but, now what? Who is going to listen to me now? And Who is going to give me wise advise now that that they are gone? I feel the tug on my life calling me to a graduation into the ranks of Elder and anticipating my call to the glorious ranks of ANCESTOR…. Please do not cry too much for me when I am gone have a celebration; a grand homegoing celebration.

After reading this blog feel free to listen to the message that I gave on Independence Day 2010. I call this message “Precious” based on Psalm 116:15.
15 Precious in the sight of the LORD
Is the death of His saints.
(Psalm 116:15, New King James Version) The Precious message starts about 3 ½ min. into the track. ( Just in case you want to skip my discussion independence Day.)

Below is a link to an audio message that I recently gave in honor for our recently dearly departed Church Member. As you listen take out the specific name I mentioned and insert your loved ones name.

You may have to cut and paste the address into your broswer and wait for a download until I figure out how to get the message to you quicker.

If you are so lead share this message with others and receive your healing and deliverance from fear of DEATH.
