Wait for It.....what you lack is on the way....

Wait on the inner strength and wisdom from God once you have asked for it. The revelation of your next step will come. The insight you are seeking will manifest just wait on it without doubting.

The ancient author James, teaches us In James1:5-8 that if we feel lack, if we feel destitute of the knowledge We need or if we sense and know lack (not having) then we should begin asking God to give us wisdom and knowledge to overcome the state of destitution and Lack.

Poverty in any area in our life should at least be a prompt for us to ask God for Wisdom and knowledge that we need to be perfect and mature lacking nothing.

We are actually commanded to ask God for Wisdom for the lacking lagging inferior areas in our lives. The word translated ASK means to 1) to beg, call for, crave, desire, require.

WE are commanded to fervently ask God for wisdom. We are not commanded to ask our pastor, neighbor or our BFF or BMF. We are commanded to ask God…in Prayer.

What we are waiting for is the Divine Word and Knowledge that leads us to our next step.
ASSISTANCE:

Today we discover that we have some Assistance during the multiple trials we find ourselves in. We are not alone…Remember this message is called Wait for it…. What are we waiting on? We are waiting on the “Giving God who Gives Wisdom….”

We are waiting for His revelation and direction to drop into our spirits and cause us to prosper…..Wait on it…The Giving God that gives wants to give to us and to everyone who asks. Our Giving God gives to all people simply, openly, frankly, sincerely.

This view of God as the giving God who gives freely may not be known. We tend to think that God is not willing to give us wisdom. In fact we think that God is holding back or hiding wisdom from us. Its not God hiding His wisdom from us, It is our own doubt and unbelief that keeps us from the wisdom of God that we need.

8 Souls Baptized at LA Second… Sunday April 25, 2010

We are still rejoicing over the LORDS’s presence at our baptismal service at LA Second Community Church. Yesterday, I got to experience one of the highest joys of pastoring a local congregation: baptism.

Immediately after our regular Sunday Morning Worship, we had the honor of baptizing three adults and five children. All the candidates completed my two-hour intensive Baptism Preparation Class. This baptism was a first for me as a senior pastor. I can hardly contain my excitement.

This Baptism was previously planned to take place after our January ordination classes. But after I took the History, Polity and Doctrine course with Denny, the LORD convicted me about my flippant attitude toward the sacrament of Baptism. The conviction was prompted by reading the class handout entitled The DIDACHE, or the Teaching of the Twelve Apostles, (Translated by Charles H. Hoole).

In the Seventh chapter it says “…But before the baptism, let him who baptizeth and him who is baptized fast previously, and any others who may be able. And thou shalt command him who is baptized to fast one or two days before.”  After pondering the reverence with which the early church approached the sacrament of Baptism I realized that this means of grace is far more important than just checking off another pastoral task competed.

The LORD heightened the Baptismal experience for me by allowing me the honor of baptizing my four children. They were assisting me at the church while I was preparing the baptismal pool, and my eldest son told me on the ride home that he wanted to be baptized. His brothers and sister chimed in as well, in the affirmative. I had to work hard to get them through the preparation material. However, God’s grace made it possible.

Two of the adults baptized on Sunday have joined the church since I have been appointed pastor. They regularly attend our Thursday night interactive bible study along with Andrew. Andrew -- a long time member of LA Second – also attended the mandatory bible studies for the baptism and as he was helping me set up the pool he told me that he wanted to follow the LORD in Baptism. I asked him what prompted him to be baptized, and he told me that the LORD pulled on his heart through my teachings. All I could do is offer praise to our God.

Special thanks to Pastors Kevin Robinson and Ruben Luna, of Marina Christian Fellowship, for their sound advice and assistance in getting the Baptismal pool to LA Second Community Church, where we are Equipping Lives to Love and Serve Humanity.

No Doubt….

The title for this week’s sermon is NO DOUBT…. The title is a play on the words of the popular colloquial expression NO DOUBT. No doubt is the affirmative response given when statement are made which are so obviously based in factual observable evidence that it leaves no room for doubt. Therefore, the hearer of the statement can respond with the affirmative phrase NO DOUBT. This message is the second in the series simply called “James: On Practical Matter of Faith” In this message we learn that God has already made provisions to deal with the times in our life when we feel like we are lagging behind others or feeling inferior.

If you want to learn more about His provisions for your sense of lack then be sure to down load this week’s Message entitled NO DOUBT...

Do YOU have the Goods?

Until recently, the Book of James has always been a troubling book for me. I could hardly get through the first four verses because I just DID NOT have the goods?

You may ask what are the goods. The Goods is a quality of life and Attitude that sees all trials and tests that we fall into as being a wonderful gift from God and a sign that you are growing in your faith and Trust in God.

I just did not have the goods, every time the adversity or a struggle came my way I ran the other way screaming the Devil is a liar.. or some other religious sounding thing trying to avoid the pain and discomfort of Growth on the path way toward spiritual maturity.

James seems to be telling us within the first few versus of his book that we have go to change our perspective on life's challenges, trials and tribulation. He tells us to count it all joy when we fall into diverse trials because they will work to our advantage. Now do you see why I avoided this dude James. He is a little too real for me.

In the message I have attached entitled "Do YOU have the Goods?" I deal with some introductory issues of James and then I teach about why and how we can indeed count it all joy when we fall into divers tribulations.....

If you want to know more about this powerful message then do the light work of cutting and pasting the following link into your browser and then, Down load the message Do YOU have the Goods? I hope by the end of the message you will be able to declare. I GOT IT....I got the Goods!

Listen to the message and tell me what you think...

Video Sound bite of Dead But Not Done

[Due to technical difficulties we were not able to record the introduction of the Message Dead but Not Done.] In my introduction I spoke about the symbolism of New Clothes and the resurrection. Just like putting on new clothes we have to put on the new life and mind set of a resurrected being. We have to overcome the stuff that we inherited from our ancient ancestors who tried to cover up the nakedness of a strained relationship with God with fig leaves.

We received as our inheritance fear of God, a sense of vulnerability, strained relationship between the sexes all because of our disobedient obstinate spirit. The Good New is that faith in the Resurrected Christ delivers us from the burden of guilt, fear, and shame. For the resurrection is an empowering force in the believer.

Dr. Gregg A. Scott says "The Resurrection empowers the Church for the Freedom of Being, Disciple making-Disciples." (Matthew 28:18-20) The Holy Spirit is the resident indwelling presence of the living God with us always. Therefore, the death in your life and circumstances is not the end of the story it is only a delay....

What God wants us to do is to enter into the REST He has provided, The REST is the finished work of redemption. God by means of the Christ has brought you and I back from the pawn shop of heartbreak hotel, Disappointment Row, and Failure Avenue.
Because of the shed blood of the Christ (the redemption price) we have access to our own person Passover. When God sees the Blood on us appropriated by Faith then then He allows destruction and destroyer of our souls to PASSOVER us. Therefore, we no longer have to be slaves to our past. We no longer have to carry around the burden of our past transgressions or indiscretions. We are encouraged to seek first the rule of God in our lives and to practice His moral code. Once we do what He requires then all the "things" we desire of comfort in this life shall be added to us. This is true because God knows that a truly redeemed person will use his or her wealth for Kingdom work and affairs of loving the poor and needy among us and making sure that Kingdom needs are supplied. " But Seek ye first the kindgom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you" Matthew 6:33

The significance of Christian Baptism pt 2

This week we contemplated some ideas about Jesus Christ. Did He know that he was going to die by Crucifixion? Did Jesus go to hell after he died? What is the significance of Christian Baptism? You can explore all these question as you listen in on our interactive Bible Study held on Thursday night at LA Second Community Church 2100 W 54th Street in Los Angeles 90062. The class starts at 6:00 PM we are finished class by 8:PM.

Baptism is more than just going in dry and coming out wet. It is more that just a public confession of an inward decision of faith. Check out the message.

Dead But Not Done

Resurrection Sunday was a powerful experience at LA 2ed. We meditated on the relevance of a resurrected Messiah to our lives. We discovered that Faith in God’s resurrected messiah gave us confidence in God validating our right deeds. One big idea we got was that incorporating Faith in God’s resurrected Messiah we can become empowered people who are not limited by the fear of death. WE are empowered to live and love powerfully. Rest for the Restless

God has already finished His work in the created order and in the deliverance of the human experience. He wants us to enter into His completed work and rest in His provisions. All it takes is for us to trust Him and obey His call to rest while we can hear it. Six days we have to work on the seventh day is a rest unto God...”Let us therefore labor to enter into His Rest...Hebrews 4:11”
